Then I replaced all the panels I had removed. The red wire went to the wire I spliced to the back up light and routed to the hatch door. The white wire (ground) on the transmitter went to one of the many black and white wires on the door assembly. I then mounted the sending unit in a square opening in the door using the adhesive on the back of the sending unit. I had to drill though the door for a wire hole and screw holes. (You might want to mount your camera to the right of center so you have better access to the hatch release button).

I mounted the camera assembly above the license plate. I ran the spliced wire from the backup light bulb under the left interior panels and over to the long grommet to the hatch door and to an unused location on the hatch door. I then removed most of the panels on the hatch door. To get there I had to remove all the floor panels and the left side interior panels. I located the left rear backup light bulb and spliced to the red wire. I wanted to have the camera come on onlywhen the car was in reverse and I couldn't find any appropriate wires in the back hatch door.

I started researching on this site how to install it and there wasn't much relating to my type of installation.( didn't need to make any connections in the dash area). So when I saw the BC-30 advertized I felt it met my needs. My 2010 dose not have the factory screen, but does have Nuvi 2557 custom mounted along side the console and I didn't want to ad another screen. We are going to enjoy the car even more as now we have a better vantage point for being aware of what's there when we are backing up.I just wanted to describe my installation of Garmin BC-30 wireless backup camera. It is not as good as my built in backup camera in my 2017 Ram Laramie 3500, but it is better than the piece of crap picture we got in our previous Fiat 500L. As soon as you take it out of reverse and into drive, the backup picture goes away and the normal GPS screen takes it's place. What's neat is that as soon as you put it in reverse, the picture appears (well there is a second or two delay, I guess because of being wireless). We then went up front, started the car, put it in reverse.and waalah, we had a backup picture on the Garmin 2589. I put the little black box on the shelf area right behind the left rear seat. I wrapped the ground wire to it and put a washer and nut on it and snugged it up. The ground wire I just attached to one of the bolts coming in from the outside. I connected the other set of wires for power to the blue wire in my picture that is in slot #3. Then up through the hole in the crossmember and into the bottom rear storage area. I did have to notch the light bracket to enable it to snap back into place with the camera wires running through the notch. Anyways, we attached the camera to the license plate, fished the wires up through the left license plate light. However, nothing shows so you cannot see the hole. To route the wires from the camera to the transmitter, I did have to drill one 5/16" hole in the rear crossmember. It took us about 2 hours to do the installation. Click to expand. The wife and I tackled this project after lunch today.
